Orange County Camera Workshop – Learn How to Get the Most out of Your DSLR

Whenever I meet people for the first time and they find out I’m a professional photographer, the conversation usually goes one of two ways…

THEM: What do you do?

ME: I’m a photographer.

THEM: “Wow! I’d love for you to take pictures of my family!” (Sometimes I get, “Wow! You must have a really great camera!” – but that’s for a different blog post…).

……. OR ……..

THEM: What do you do?

ME: I’m a photographer.

THEM: “Ugghh!!! I have this great s@%$#& camera and I have NO idea how to use it!”

Sound familiar?  There is SO much frustration from people who have invested anywhere from $700 to $2000 on a DSLR camera and basically use it like a bulky point-and-shoot.

And I have found that most are shooting on Program Mode (a.k.a. the “little green square”). And here’s the thing… occasionally it is just FINE to shoot on that green square. But if you are interested in taking better pictures, more creative pictures… then you need to get that camera into a mode that gives YOU the control. And that’s Manual Mode…. <———— and no, it’s not nearly as scary as it sounds! :-).

If you want to learn some camera basics that can get you started in shooting with more control of your camera, then come to my beginner’s workshop! It’s a casual, fun, laid-back 2-hours where you can ask questions, learn something new and get inspired to take great pictures!

Space will be limited to only 8 participants for this first workshop, so contact me at jen@jenniferimus.com soon to reserve your seat!

Hello. I was doing some research online and came across a blog posting of yours regarding a DSLR Workshop you held earlier this year. I was wondering if you had any others scheduled? My husband and I just had our first baby and decided to buy a DSLR camera to capture all those great moments but I want to make sure that we make the most out of it! Thank you for your time.

Hi, I wanted to check and see if you were planning another workshop early 2012? Thank you.

Dorothee Morse - May 24, 2012 - 5:40 am

My daughter loves taking pictures and we are looking for some beginners workshops to learn the ins-and-outs of our Canon 7D to really take advantage of this great camera. Will you have another workshop at Citrus Ranch Park in the summer?
